Rita’s Induction session 1 review

Objective of the class: We were required to make different collages on 3 A4 size sheets respectively. Then make a one-line drawing of our classmates on it and edit it on our phones, making them into textile patterns that would further be used to create products.

Working analysis: The class started off with a briefing of what we were expected to do and gave us a small insight into textile and print. As it was a part of the design aspect of fashion, I really enjoyed the creative process of the class. I found it fun and relaxing to make the collages and the print edits. It was interesting to see how the rough collages and drawings turned into something completely different by the end of the process. It was totally not what I expected and I liked that aspect about it. Experimenting with bright colours brought me a bit out of my comfort zone and led me to trust my instinct about what I like more.

Things I need to improve: I need to get used to the speed of how fast the class goes, there are a lot of things to absorb and I need to take down more notes so that I can keep my thoughts more organized. I shouldn’t get obsessed with everything being perfect or overthink my work and just trust the process next time. I wasn’t able to finish my work in the allotted time and I want to work on improving my time management. Overall, I need to stick to my instincts and just go for it without second guessing myself.
