Question 1: How well could you complete the class tasks working on your own? Were you focused in class?
I think I perform well independently because I can move according to my pace and work faster. In class we did a lot of deducting on how a person’s style relates to their environment. For example, an athlete or a mother would often choose comfort over anything else. We had a task to write a customer profile on a type of person we found intriguing, this was an independent task unlike most of the tasks we did till now. I actually found this to be one of the easiest tasks to finish as I just had to work with what my preferences are. This meant I was focused on what I was doing and finished the task in the allotted time given. The only thing that held me back from finishing it faster was my inadequate photoshop skills that I am trying to work on to get better at it now.
Question 2. How did you develop and select images to illustrate the customer segment? Do you think you were successful?
To illustrate the customer segment, I already had a couple of images of what my customer would look like in my head. So, all I had to do was go on a couple of websites and browse for it. This was rather easy because I browse fashion related things on ‘Pinterest’ and already had a board that was somewhat similar to what I was looking for. My customer was someone who was interested in fashion and art and wears something that makes them look intimidating and edgy. I think I was successful in capturing the essence of the customer, with some low exposure photos and lots of emphasis on accessories and silhouettes. Usually, the place a person lives in and how they decorate it also corelates to the kind of style they have, so I even added some pictures of interiors of industrial looking apartments.
Question 3. What might you need to improve following on from this session?
I think there are a couple of things I need to improve on following on from this session. One of which is my photoshop skills. I realized the amount of time I would save if I knew some basic functions of photoshop. It took me a lot of time on google trying to search for each and every function, so I try to spend some more time trying to familiarize myself with the app. Another thing I found hard was during the shop report task. I had teamed up with a classmate to work on it and I found It hard to finish the task within the given amount of time. It was because it took us a lot of time to choose a brand and the shop. I think next time, instead of spending way too long trying to choose a topic, I will try to not ponder over that and rather spend my time researching on the topic instead.
